The Chicago Cubs will acquire Austin Jackson from the Seattle Mariners.

Jackson cleared trade waivers and the Cubs can place him on their postseason roster because he was acquired before Sept. 1.

Seattle will receive a player to be named later and a $211,000 international signing slot. Chicago will receive some cash to offset what is left on Jackson's $7.7 million salary.

The Kansas City Royals will acquire Jonny Gomes in a trade with the Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta will send cash to Kansas City and receive Minor League infielder Luis Valenzuela in return.

Gomes signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Braves this past offseason.

The Mets have acquired right-handed reliever Addison Reed from the D-Backs to bolster their bullpen.

New York traded minor league right-handers Miller Diaz and Matt Koch to Arizona in the deal, which was officially announced Sunday afternoon.

Reed, 26, is 2-2 with a 4.20 ERA in 38 appearances for Arizona this season. He is earning $4.875 million and remains under team control through 2017, but is a non-tender candidate because of the salary.

The Cubs acquired struggling right-handed reliever Fernando Rodney from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the team announced on Thursday after their to the Giants.

Rodney, 38, pitched for Cubs manager Joe Maddon in Tampa Bay in 2012 and 2013. He went 5-5 with a 5.68 ERA and 16 saves in 54 appearances for the Mariners this season before being designated for assignment last Sunday.

The Toronto Blue Jays have traded Randy Wolf to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations.

Wolf, 38, has excelled at the Triple-A level this season. The left-hander has a 2.58 ERA and Detroit is in need of an arm with recent injuries to Anibal Sanchez and Daniel Norris.

The Texas Rangers have traded Tyler Pastornicky to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations.

Pastornicky was formerly a prospect for the Atlanta Braves.

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired Cliff Pennington and cash from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for Minor League shortstop Dawel Lugo.

Pennington hit just .237/.318/.281 in 157 plate appearances with Arizona this season, but is considered a plus defensive shortstop.

The Boston Red Sox have traded Mike Napoli to the Texas Rangers along with cash in a waiver deal.

The Red Sox will receive a player to be named later or cash in the trade.

Napoli played two seasons with the Rangers, in 2011 and 2012, before joining the Red Sox as a free agent.

The Atlanta Braves have acquired Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Chris Johnson.

Johnson is owed $19 million through the 2017 season, a contract the Braves had been trying to move.

The Braves received cash considerations from Cleveland to help offset the cost of Bourn and Swisher, who are guaranteed to make a combined $30 million next season.

The Pirates didn't enter the final day before the trade deadline looking for a starting pitcher, but the state of A.J. Burnett's elbow quickly made them change their mind.

The Pirates acquired left-hander J.A. Happ the Mariners on Friday after Burnett complained of elbow pain and was placed on the 15-day DL with inflammation following his third straight rough outing.

Pittsburgh also picked up Michael Morse from the Dodgers, hoping Morse's proven right-handed bat will give the Pirates a platoon option at first base to complement left-handed Pedro Alvarez.
